Problem Set 1, due at class Monday October 8: Bishop problems 1.40, 1.29, and 1.31 (I suggest you solve them in that order) and the two problems at the end of the notes on covariance matrices and the central limit theorem.

Problem Set 2, due at class Monday October 15: Bishop problem 3.3 and the two problems in section 7 of the notes on generalization bounds except part c of the second problem (it is too hard).

Problem Set 3, due Monday Oct 22: The two problems at the end of the notes on kernels and the problem at the end of the notes on boosting.

Problem Set 4, due Monday Oct 28: The two problems at the end of the notes on HMMs and the two problems at the end of the notes on EM.

Problem Set 5, due Monday Nov. 12: Problems 1, 2, and 4 at the end of the notes on Factor Graphs and Junction Trees.
