Wonseok ChaeI am a post-doctoral researcher at Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago. I received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in 1998 and 2001 respectively. My advisor was Kyo C. Kang. My master thesis entitled "A Meta-Model for Representing and Analyzing Software Architecture Models" presented a way to solve the problems recurring when designing a large software system.

In 2001, I joined Lucent Bell-Labs Korea as a member of
technical staff. Here, I developed software for
wireless switching systems.
Before resuming my studying at TTI-C, I was the member of the Korea
Association of Software Assessors as provisional
ISO/IEC 15504 assessor. What I wanted to do in
these activities was to improve software development
process: how to make good quality software systems
efficiently within limited resources for demanding
customers.
I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago in 2009. In my thesis work, I developed type-safe extensible programming with my advisor Matthias Blume. My research interests are in programming languages and software engineering, especially at their intersection. In particular, my interests are in the design and implementation of advanced programming languages. I have also exploited emerging software engineering principles and practices including software product line engineering. My current research focuses on the design, analysis and implementation of feature-oriented programming and its configuration through intelligent tool support (e.g., SmartForm and FeatureForm).
