We organized an ICML'2016 workshop on Multi-View Representation Learning (MVRL)!

I gratefully acknowledge the support of NVIDIA Corporation with the donation of the Tesla K40 GPUs used for my research at TTI-Chicago.

Research Interest

I am broadly interested in machine learning algorithms that are well motivated and work well in practice. So far my research topics include algorithms for deep learning, multi-view representation learning, structured output (sequence) prediction, manifold learning, and applications to speech processing. I am working more on optimization and theory.

I am currently a postdoc at Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago working with Professor Karen Livescu and Professor Nathan Srebro. I obtained my Ph.D. from the EECS Department at UC Merced in 2013, under the supervision of Professor Miguel A. Carreira-Perpinan. Prior to that, I obtained Master's degree in Computer Science from Chengdu Institute of Computer Applications (Chengdu, China), Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2008, and my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Wuhan, China) in 2005.
